Student Work at the University of Tulsa ('91-'93)

In the Fall of 1988 I began study as a green Freshman at the University of Tulsa. I was on scholarship having made All-State Orchestra in my senior year of high school so I was participating in Univesity ensembles. I was unsure of a course of study at first and leaned toward Computer Information Systems but I still had a burning musical desire. I enrolled in the CIS program but after one semester I knew it was not for me. Although I was interested in music, I also knew it was very difficult to make it as a musician. I chose to enroll in the Bachelor of Music Education program to become a teacher. As I progressed through this program my growing fascination with composing emerged. Through encouragement of my composition instructor I decided to double major in music, Bachelor of Music Education and Bachelor of Music in Composition. I knew it might be a difficult road but I had my mind made up. The compositions that follow I wrote in those early years, experimenting in all forms of composition from Neo-classical to set-theory and serialism. You will see a flavor of many of these in the examples. These are just the few that I have finally put to digial software, more will come in the future. Here they are, for your enjoyment.
